I think it’s written somewhere in the Colorado wedding photographer bible that the majority of your work has to be shot in the mountains, but call me lukewarm. I LOVE photographing my couples in nature. I will hike with 30+ lbs of gear, supplies, and champagne on my back to make sure they have the day they dreamt of, but I also love photographing couples in the city. And let me tell you—there’s something incredibly romantic about a downtown couple session.
Isabelle and Paul were the perfect example of trusting the vision. We started off on the rooftop of a parking garage as the sun was going down, capturing that blue hour glow before transitioning into the city lights. We frolicked through the streets, swung from light posts, and found some nearly impossible neon signs at eye level that gave their photos a bit of that urban edge. You have no idea how long I drove around the city trying to scout out some neon lights!
A downtown couple session in Denver or Colorado Springs is perfect for those who want a mix of timeless romance and modern energy. Denver couples, embrace that Denver edge in RiNo District or on Colfax. You don’t regret it!
Shooting in the evening means you get a completely different vibe than a mountain session—no battling unpredictable weather, no long drives, just city lights on a warm night, glass buildings, and a backdrop full of movement in the city. The urban setting is unique, cinematic and it feels effortless.
If you’re planning your engagement session and love the idea of stepping away from the mountains for something more modern and stylish, a downtown Colorado Springs couple session is the perfect choice. Whether it’s rooftop views, a less than perfect alleyway, a coffee shop or hole in the wall bar. The glowing street offers up creative opportunities for photos all your own. Let’s create some magic
I’m also offering up photography AND Super8 Film coverage this year to Colorado couples for their engagement session and weddings this year! So if you’re looking for that little extra bit of nostalgia, I’m happy to add some imperfect, as real as it gets, authentic film video to your time with me.
