There’s something undeniably magical about a Central Park engagement session, and Danielle and Owen proved just how unforgettable an evening in the city can be. Is there anything for cinematic than Bethesda in the city? We met for their session at the historic Bethesda Terrace. Our only opportunity to shoot together was in the evening on a weekend. To shoot in such an iconic place on a weekend evening left me a little apprehensive, but they didn’t skip a beat!
Owen had proposed to Danielle in Turkey, surrounded by hot air balloons in the sky. Which almost didn’t happen. Could you imagine that proposal being ruined? As stunning as the proposal was, the images from that trip didn’t quite feel like them. Their story began in their West Village apartment building in the elevator. Yes, just like you see in the movies. However, they wanted photos rooted in the place where their relationship began. We tossed around the idea of WV, but their old apartment building was shut down and no epic elevator to be found (that you didn’t have to pay for anyway). A Central Park engagement session gave us the perfect blend of romance, history, and true New York.
At Bethesda Terrace, we spent time around a lively crowd and stumbled upon an accordion player filling the space with the whimsical melody of Harry Potter. The moment felt straight out of a film. Fitting. From there, we wandered to the iconic Bethesda Fountain and soaked up the rest of the daylight.
As the session wrapped, we headed toward the Upper West Side and made our way to the subway. It was the perfect way to end their Central Park engagement session and into date night as they were all gussied up.
If you’re dreaming of photos that feel cinematic, emotional, romantic with the hum of the city, a Central Park engagement session is the place to go. Even if you’re eloping! Let’s make some magic.
