Alyssa and Allan’s Surf Hotel Wedding in Buena Vista, Colorado was one of those days where you could feel how much thought went into every single detail. Nothing felt rushed, nothing felt forced. It was intentional, beautiful, and incredibly true to them.
Their day started at the Surf House, the newest addition to the Surf Hotel, and honestly… it was the perfect place to begin. Clean, modern, and filled with soft light, massive windows (a photographers dream) it set such a calm tone for the morning. Alyssa and Allan got ready surrounded by meaningful details, quiet moments, and that excited, but grounded energy that makes wedding mornings so special. I always appreciate walking into a chill vibe. Photographing here just made me swoon and also want to live there.
We met back up inside the Surf Hotel for their first look before heading down toward the river. That walk led to one of my favorite moments of the day. Private vows by the water. Just the two of them, reading words they’d written to each other by the flowing river…dreamy. It felt intimate and emotional in a way that only a Surf Hotel Wedding can feel. If you’ve never been, it’s an intimate hotel and venue tucked in the mountains with every last detail touched. We spent some time creating portraits along the river before heading back in, soaking up every bit of that early fall light.
Before the ceremony, Alyssa and Allan popped champagne in their room while guests gathered in the chateau under the fall leaves. Champagne for the guests, conversation and some acoustic guitar playing in the background. The ceremony followed shortly after. It was funny heartfelt, personal, and surrounded by the people who love them most.
Afterward, everyone made their way into the courtyard for cocktail hour. Followed by toasts, dances and cocktails by candlelight. As the night went on, Alyssa and Allan stepped outside for s’mores and a private dance. A quiet moment together before heading back inside to party. The evening wrapped up with dancing under a disco ball to the BEST early 2000’s alternative rock music. Personal fave and the best party people.
If you’re dreaming of a Surf Hotel Wedding that has thoughtful design, mountain energy, and space to actually feel your day. Alyssa and Allan’s celebration was such a perfect example of how magical it can be. I can’t wait to share their super 8 wedding film. In the meantime, the people that made it happen!
