SHANE + CRYSTAL’S MAROON BELLS WEDDING | ASPEN SNOWMASS WEDDINGS | MAROON BELLS AMPHITHEATRE
“A little place called Asssspen”
“Mmmm… California”
(I hope you know where this came from)
Crystal and Shane KNEW they wanted to get married in Colorado when they came from Wisconsin to spend some time hiking through the mountains. Crystal said “This is it!” but a few months before their wedding they discovered that their venue’s main road had been taken over with debris from the avalanches. I’m not talking about a few branches and rocks. Hundreds of trees had been taken out, including the sign for this iconic landmark.
I received an e-mail from Crystal explaining that the road wasn’t supposed to be cleared until a few days after their wedding. So I hopped on the phone as soon as I finished reading it. We talked about other locations that would accommodate their guests and wasn’t far away from Aspen or Snowmass. The new potential ‘venue’ was going to be Independence Pass. Thankfully, they found out a few weeks prior to their wedding that it was going to be open and they could proceed with their wedding plans….Mother Nature don’t give an F about your wedding day…clearly. I say thankfully, because Independence Pass has epic scenery, but I stopped along the way to Aspen and it was SNOWY.
Needless to say, this wedding was drool worthy. The people were awesome and Crystal walked down the path to their favorite band, Third Eye Blind with her mother. They confessed their love in the mountains and were congratulated by strangers. We broke some rules and went in the freezing cold water. I’m forever thankful for the brides that have a ready for anything look in their eye and hops onto a bridge taken out by the avalanche and lets her dress just flow in the running water with the twigs and pine cones. Enjoy this beautiful and adventurous intimate wedding. I sure did!
