BUTTERMILK FALLS | MARCUS + KELLY’S ITHACA ENGAGEMENT SESSION | UPSTATE NEW YORK
Buttermilk falls is one of those places that you walk into and it feels like you’re in a fairytale. It’s lush, dense, water has basically graced everything in it. The whole path is made up of shale and sandstone and if you’re willing to walk on some slippery rock, you can make you’re way off the path to the waterfalls and local swimming holes. Growing up in Upstate New York, I’ve always found this gem nestled in the finger lakes to be a truly magical place any season of the year.
When it came to planning Marcus and Kelly’s engagement session, I knew a few-ish hour drive would be worth it and hopefully the rain would pass us by. We had a little while with no rain, but eventually started to pour. We had a tent of leaves, but after a while, it just couldn’t keep it out and next thing you knew, we were dripping. Luckily, Kelly and Marcus were down to soak in the experience….literally. As we finished up, we sprinted back to our cars in a total downpour and got some of the dreamiest photos before headed to our last spot. I ruined my main lens that day and couldn’t save it, but it was soooo worth it.
