CHRIS + JORDAN // HOT TUB LOVIN’

COLORADO SPRINGS COUPLE SESSION | HOT TUB LOVIN | COLORADO WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

I’ve always loved personal projects outside of my weddings and engagement sessions. I think it’s important for photographers to do. Not only from a creative perspective, because our job requires us to be creative, but there are things I could recommend to a couple that would be a little out of the box and I’d probably get a polite decline. To be honest, the majority of couples like to play it safe and that’s okay. Safe is still beautiful, especially in the state of Colorado. I’ll photograph ‘safe’ anywhere if it means a couple will love their photos in the mountains.

Once the weather cools, snow storms are unpredictable, the trees no longer have leaves and the skies are blue, couples are less inclined to have their photos taken for their save the dates and my time slows down a tad. My last few years have been so hectic with babies and weddings, I promised myself that I would take the time to do some personal work. Keep that flame alive. Once you’ve been photographing couples for 13 years, ya know, you have to spice it up a bit every once and while.

There’s more to this story I promise and I’ll get to the photos. It’s not like Pinterest when you’re just trying to get to the baking recipe and someone wants to give you their whole life story as to why they love chocolate chip cookies and you just want to know if they reeeaallly are going to be the best you’ve ever had (as advertised). Anyways, I’ve photographed couples in some of the most beautiful places in the country. But there comes a time in the world of the gram and Facebook that a lot of photos blend in and I just wanted to create something that looked different.

In my “down time”, I wanted to shoot a few things that were a little out of the norm and not necessarily in the mountains. I thought of what I could do at my own home that wasn’t your typical snuggling on a bed or on the couch. Authenticity is a word photographers have been chasing to lure in couples doing real things with real emotion. But it can be a struggle in the world of photography where couples see eye catching trends.

That’s how Chris and Jordan ended up in my hot tub, listening to Iration, snuggling up under the steamy lights after we had some fresh snow. I love that my job is to photograph couples in love. It’s pretty much the best… So I hope you love these guys as much as I do. I give you AUTHENTICITY!
