Back in 2018, I photographed one of my first ever large Colorado weddings just outside of Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes Park. Talk about imposter syndrome! From the rolling valley hills of Upstate NY to the Rockies. I felt so honored that a couple from Boulder would trust this Colorado newbie to photograph their day. Meagan and Zach had the best day in the mountains and are still one of my favorite couples to this day!
Meanwhile, Meagan’s sister-in-law, Hannah was getting set up on a blind date with Patrick in Houston. They hit it off and the rest was history.
I hear from Hannah and Patrick just after the New Year, asking if I would photograph their summer wedding back in the mountains. These two love birds weren’t planning just any Boulder wedding. It was going to take place at her family’s home with about 50 of their closest friends and family.
I arrived to the property on their wedding day to a perfectly put together home with a beautiful patio full of flowers and hanging white lights. White tables strategically placed around family style. Hannah and Patrick were getting ready in different parts of the house with their wedding party. While I waited for each of them to get ready, I could hear the hustle and bustle of everyone putting together the finishing touches.
They shared a first look at their ceremony site, did family photos at a nearby open space with big open views (and thankfully some shade). Then took shuttles down to the lower meadow of their family’s property for a beautiful sunset ceremony overlooking the rolling hills in Boulder. The ceremony was breathtaking.
After the ceremony, all guests were shuttled to the house for cocktail hour and I grabbed drinks for the newly married couple and we headed off to catch the last bit of sunset for portraits. I actually submitted some of these photos for the cover of Rocky Mountain Bride (pray for me). We made our way back to white lights setting the stage for a romantic reception and introduction where they partied the night away!
Intimate weddings? Count me in! Boulder wedding? Count me in!
