Anna and Ian’s wedding at the Taharaa Mountain Lodge was nothing short of a dream. The day unfolded under blue skies and not a cloud in sight. From my very first interactions with Anna and Ian, I knew their wedding day would be something special. They had this laid-back vibe, yet their vision was clear. I was excited to help bring it to life.
Their wedding celebration at the Taharaa Mountain Lodge spanned a few days, and I got to follow along. On the big day, I arrived to find both Anna and Ian getting ready at the lodge. Not long after, we were off to the first look. For their first look, we met up at Lily Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. (Quick tip: Lily Lake is still part of RMNP’s timed entry system, so plan ahead and parking is tight!)
After our time at Lily Lake, we returned to the lodge for their sweet and sunny ceremony. I think I blacked out with excitement when I saw their dog with a wreath of greenery around their neck. Their adorable retriever started charging down the aisle ahead of Anna and everyone was smiles. Who doesn’t love a dog? The pup even signed their marriage license. One of the many joys of Colorado.
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t take every chance I could get when it came to getting Anna and Ian in front of my camera for a few more photos by the end of the night. In all honesty, the amount of photos you get in your final gallery depends on a couple’s willingness to step away from the party. Speaking of party, I’m also positive that Ian can rock a pair of bridesmaid heels. One of my highlights from the night.
The following day, more magic. After breakfast at the lodge with family and friends, Anna and Ian embraced a more casual look for a unique day-after session. We visited the spot where Anna boarded her beautiful horse for the wedding. It was special watching Anna in her element. I may have snuck in a snuggle or two… or three. It was like editorial meets “I’ve been wanting to do this my entire life” fairytale wish come true.
If you’re considering a wedding at the Taharaa Mountain Lodge, you’re in for something special. It has breathtaking views and you feel like you’re in a world all your own. Estes Park is such a busy little mountain town, that you really feel tucked away.
